RE: Is the midwest the best place to own a RV today?

Yep, Kansas is real exciting. :RI never saw a yellow brick road in Ca. How true. Also in Kansas, DW and I saw the world's largest free outdoor municipal swimming pool, the world's largest hand dug well, the world's largest easel, and the world's largest ball of twine. (Hopefully the well is still there after last years tornadoes.) In California, we saw some big trees and the world's largest outdoor thermometer. It looks like Kansas has California beat for having more of the "world's largest" I had not read all the replies, before I made my post. I want to make it plain that I really enjoyed our visit through Kansas. DW and I like finding the unusual and every state has its on. We also enjoyed the town of Nicodemus, KS which we discovered by accident and we also enjoyed our visit to California. Now with the cost of gas, we are finding a lot of things to do here in Georgia.

RE: Happy Independence Day

Our town, Warner Robins Georgia, held it 4th of July celebration last night. We are fortunate to have the Air Force Reserve Band headquartered at our base, Robins AFB. We had 20,000 people show up at our local football stadium to watch the fireworks, the Air Force Reserve Band, and the country music band Lone Star perform. The good part is that it was broadcast over the Armed Forces Network to the all the troops. Not only did our forefathers fight for our freedom, but now our sons and daughters are doing the same. Let's keep them in our thoughts and prayers, especially our grand daughters father who is in Iraq.

RE: North Georgia State Parks Full hookups?

DW and I just returned from 5 nights each at James Sloppy Floyd, Cloudland Canyon, and Fort Mountain State Parks. While we own a blue tote we did not take it with us. The showers in all three of these parks were clean. We just wear our shower shoes. I guess your other alternatives are to buy a blue tote, go to the dump station when your tank fills up, or stay at a private park with full hookups. Good luck, we enjoyed our trip.

RE: Trip West 2008

Looks good to me. You may not need 4 days to see Painted Desert, unless you plan to do a lot of wilderness hiking which is highly encouraged. At Arches if you have the time DW and I recommend the Ranger led Fiery Furnace hike. You have to make reservations and it cost us $10/person, but it was worth it. Also if you are at Bryce Canyon during a full moon they have an awesome night hike. Have a great trip.

RE: GPS lady goes berzerk!

We call our GPS lady Rudie, because she is alway rude to us. OFF ROUTE, OFF ROUTE, RECALCULATING, RECALCULATING. I will be driving down the road and she will show me driving in a lake.

RE: need for locking gas cap?

I was reading a thread this weekend that advised against a locking gas cap because as already stated here thieves are drilling holes into the gas tank. It is cheaper to buy more gas than to have to buy more gas and fix the gas tank. Who knows what is best?

RE: Are there less RV's in the parks?

DW and I just got back from a two week trip that went over three weekends staying at 3 different Georgia State Parks. The CGs were pretty full on the weekends and around 1/3 on the weekdays. The except was last week when Fort Mountain State Park was about 60% during the week.

RE: $190 per month for RV storage, So. Cal.

I'm glad I can keep the TT in our driveway, but I am sure it does not cost anywhere near that much to store it around here.

RE: R U smarter than the average RV'r?

I am smarter than the average person that took the test, but I bet most RVers are smarter than the average.

RE: Have you ever WON a great prize?

We won $1500 dollars in electricity from our EMC when they held a member's meeting. One year we received over $15,000 from the Georgia lottery for our kids to be in college and while it was not alway that much, we received a good amount for around 8 years while 4 of our kids went to college.

RE: Staycation

What a depressing thought. Just stay closer to home. Instead of going to Missouri and Arkansas, we went to North Georgia with some friends and had a great time. Just got back from a two week trip that cost less than $900.
